Design 1. MORT

Founder and proprietor of Havel Designs, Mark Havel, designed and built this car from the ground up, in the late 1970’s and early 80’s. It was an extreme vehicle; weighing 1800lb and standing only 37 inches at the top of the roof. Powered by a 2-liter BMW engine and 4 speed transmission, it got over 30 mpg and could reach speeds in excess of 130mph. The photo shows true colors of the car; fading from a black bottom to a snow white top, through all of the shades of grey-blue. Mort was built on a space frame design with a full, smooth belly pan; a urethane foam cell body with a thin composite skin. Four point harness, digital instrumentation, wool pinstripe suit material seats and removable roofs and hatch made this a once in a lifetime project.
